Five HAIS parents tell us what they love about HAIS. From our dedicated teachers to our inclusive community, their unique perspectives and experiences offer insight into those thinking about selecting Hoi An International School as an educational option for your own child.

Etienne | Father of Victor and Vincent

As a parent, I cannot express how much I love HAIS. It’s not just a school; it’s a community that has become an integral part of our family. The location of the school is perfect for us, and my kids love the fact that they can ride their bicycles to school through the paddy fields.

The facilities are great, we love that there is a swimming pool. My kids really loved the swimming carnival, which had so much energy between the different Houses and the student, teacher and parent races.

Personally, I also like the school’s focus on creativity. My kids are learning music, which is a fantastic programme. It’s wonderful to see them develop their talents and interests.

Jeremy | Father of Gus and Harriet

As a family who moved to HAIS from Australia, we really appreciate the small class sizes. Our children were previously in classes of around 28-32 children. We also love the World Languages programme and that Gus and Harriet get to learn a language every day, as well as Sports Friday which is such a good way to end the week.

What I personally like to see is all the year levels playing together at lunchtime and that sense of community. I went to a small community school as a kid growing up in Fremantle, Western Australia – and today am still friends with so many of the group from that school, who are of all different ages – not just from my year. HAIS reminds me a lot of that school in terms of the sense of community.

I also appreciate the camps and excursions that the students get to go on. These take the pressure off exams and homework at the end of the year.

Caroline | Mother of Liv and William

The first thing that struck me about HAIS was the supportive community that reaches beyond the school walls. We have travelled and moved quite a bit as a family and hence our kids have got used to experiencing a number of international schools.

In that sense, HAIS really does stand out. As the school has grown, so have the options for fields of study and you can find your area of interest and grow within it. This can only benefit our kids in the future.

There’s also the exposure to different cultures, and that our children can learn about the local Vietnamese culture. I really appreciate that the school very much values diversity.

Seonghui | Mother of Hayeon & Hajun

This the third year for my kids in HAIS. We have seen the growth from all parts of the school. As an example, we have seen new renovations and extensions at the beginning of every school year and also the community getting bigger year on year. It makes me feel like we are growing up with school, so I am very proud of HAIS and our children.

HAIS is very friendly. All the teachers, the staff and the students are friendly. One time, my kids said that they are friends with the security guy at school too. I could see how they feel comfortable in school. We love HAIS a lot. We are very proud that we are members of HAIS.

Kathelijne | Mother of Phoenix

Something that no school handbook can enforce that makes us so happy to see at HAIS is the interaction between students. Our daughter has friends in lower and higher years and we notice how friendly the older students are to her.

Having these role models for our daughter is so valuable. The whole staff of HAIS models this behaviour, we have always felt welcome.
