Today’s generation is encountering a world impacted by rapidly changing technology, natural environments, and global concerns. They have greater access to information and social media influence, and it is therefore imperative to acknowledge some of these contemporary issues.

Pastoral Care is included in the HAIS curriculum every Thursday morning to nurture the teacher-pupil relationship and provide a dedicated time to check-in and offer social and emotional support to students. One key ingredient to our Pastoral Care programme is our daily ‘homeroom’ period. Homeroom is more than just a registration process. This is a time for meaningful conversations and relationship building between teachers and peers before the day begins.

Our small class sizes also enable teachers to ensure that academic care and personal growth are maintained for each individual student.

At the same time, we believe that academic rigour is also essential for student success. We have high expectations of our students because we want them to achieve their best and our Cambridge curriculum is designed to challenge, motivate and prepare them for success in higher education and beyond.

Our approach at HAIS is to balance both academic learning and personal growth, and to recognise that these elements are not mutually exclusive but rather support one another in symbiosis.

We’ve noticed that small adjustments to the day-to-day curriculum can release the pressure valves and any tension build-up – and we have created a bespoke environment and curriculum where children and teenagers go from not just coping – but thriving.
