HAIS Headlines #22

“So please, oh please, we beg, we pray, go throw your TV set away, and in its place, you can install a lovely bookshelf on the wall.” (Roald Dahl)

This week was another week of firsts!

We held our first ever book week! A huge thank you to Ms. Melissa and Ms. Lan for all of their efforts organizing the activities throughout the week. We had guest readers in the library all week to read some children’s classics to the students. We hope that by modelling our love for books and reading, the children will find the magic in books as well.

They also organized a door decorating contest throughout the school. After some fierce competition, and some hand wringing decision making, the International Grade 1/ 2 class was crowned the winners! They took home the trophy that will stay in their class for a week or two, and then find a special place in the library until next years competition.

We ended the week celebrating Book Character Day with many excellent costumes on display. We have some very creative students and staff at the school. We held a small parade around the campus so all students would get a chance to view all of the doors and see each other’s costumes.

Give me an H!

Another first for us was our Interschool Sports Morning. Two other schools in the area, SIS and Green Shoots arrived on our campus ready to play! The HAIS community was out in numbers; waving signs, sporting green, blue and yellow and cheering in unison. It was a great show of community!

Our team made us very proud by showing great sportsmanship on and off the field. They all put in an incredible effort and showed marked improvement. Go Team HAIS!

Here we Grow Again.

We would love to extend a huge HAIS welcome to our newest HAIS family. Nguyen Tan Gia Bao has joined the Bilingual Discovery class. Welcome to the HAIS family.

Finally a HUGE thank you to Ms. Bphu for our special environmental afternoon today. Trying out the concept of Guerrilla Gardening, the children made “Seed Bombs” to take home today. Please help your child find a space where they can “launch” their bomb to help make a space green! #MakeGardensNotWar.

Have a wonderful weekend and we will see you at the green gates on Monday.

Until then,
