HAIS Headlines #26

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” (John F. Kennedy)

Hello HAIS families,

Each week at our Environmental Afternoon, we have been starting our session off by sharing our high of the week and expressing what we are grateful for. It is really interesting to hear the thoughts that our students and teachers are willing to share.

Today BiBi shared that she is grateful for Mr. Tass and his music lessons. She is thrilled to be playing an instrument. I added in that music is another form of communication and that they are learning to communicate with each other.

Jacob was grateful for PE class and playing frisbee. Mr. Jeff always tries to think up fun and creative ways to get the children moving.

Ms. Bphu was grateful for Phuong helping her to learn the rules of kickball. She didn’t know how to play and Phuong took the time to teach her. Mr. Ethan also thanked Ms. Bella for playing! Well done, Bella!

I shared that I loved the feel of community that was being built around the food cart in the mornings. People just have the chance to chat, and catch up, have some delicious food and celebrate our student’s initiative and success. There is such a lovely buzz. It is a delightful way to start the day.

Ms. Aoife and Huong shared all the wonderful work they have been doing in class and the action they are taking to raise awareness of the global refugee crisis.

I have so many things to be grateful for. Mostly, I am grateful to work with such a dedicated team of educators who always put our children first. They work so hard to create engaging lessons and experiences for your children. I am also extremely grateful to you, our HAIS family. Your support and feedback have been so valuable to us as we continue to learn and grow as a school. Thank you simply does not cover it.

I hope to see many of you at our Flea Market tomorrow from 9 am until 11 am. This event is run by our HAIS PTA, but also by the HAIS students and some participants from Da Nang.

We will see you at the green gates on Monday. Have a safe and relaxing weekend.

Until then
