International Pre/Junior Kindergarten Teacher and Learning Lead of the Early Years

Hannah White has been working with children of all ages for the last thirteen years. She became a teacher to empower young people to be the change they want to see in the world. She views her role as a way of giving children the tools they need to create a world they can be proud of. Her decision to teach young people was based on the fact that they have a natural appreciation for the little things around them.

They are born teachers, artists, inventors, and entrepreneurs, and she believes that her role is to preserve that confidence, creativity, and curiosity as they grow older. She has a breadth of knowledge, gained from her experience of working with young learners in kindergarten, at-risk teen youth and primary classroom teaching. Hannah, a natural adventurer, is passionate about nurturing the natural curiosity in her learners and creating opportunities for them to develop a deep love of exploring the unknown.

What do you love most about your life at HAIS?

I love the learning opportunities offered to both staff and students at HAIS. The sense of community is humbling and it makes you feel at home.

Specialist Subject Learning Lead

Amanda Deibert our very own aesthete loved by many a student because of her ability to bring art to life. She believes that art is not something to be made or appreciated by a select few but is an essential part of being human. Her passion for teaching was borne from her belief that empowering children to create and analyse art helps them to understand themselves and others, question the images they encounter in our increasingly visual world, and to imagine things that do not yet exist.

Amanda brings with her a wealth of knowledge, gained through her previous teaching roles at museums, community centers, and grant-funded programs in US public schools.

She decided to broaden her horizons when she took a role as an art teacher at the International School of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (W. Africa), where she shared her passion for art with her learners.

What do you love most about your life at HAIS?

HAIS is a family, my whole family is a part of the community. My son just completed his very first year of school here and my husband, a professional musician, frequently offers African percussion and dance classes as a part of our after school activity program. Every person here comes together to support one another and help each other out, making it feel like you never really left home.
