Primary Bilingual Programme

Experienced, highly responsive Vietnamese teachers lead the Bilingual Programme at HAIS.

Students enrolled in our Bilingual Programme follow the same student centered, inquiry based approach as our International students, but follow the Vietnamese National Curriculum. In addition, students have 7 classes per week of dedicated English lessons. 5 are delivered by a qualified native English speaker and 2 are by a qualified English speaking Vietnamese teacher. HAIS is a member of the WIDA International School Consortium which provides assessments, learning outcomes and teaching resources to ensure that all students are receiving the same quality instruction. These standards are used for all of our languages to ensure continuity across the programmes.

Our Primary Bilingual Programme is designed to develop and enhance each individual learners strengths. This blended learning program combines instruction of Vietnamese subjects required by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam and additional specialist subjects from our uniquely HAIS curriculum.

Each lesson is designed to spark interest, generate questions and build knowledge and understanding of big ideas and concepts. This is all done using a modern, pedagogical approach to teaching and learning supported by excellent resources and best practice. HAIS bilingual teachers are constantly receiving professional development to provide them the skills to give your children the best possible education.

Subjects taught in Vietnamese: Literature, Mathematics, Nature, Science, Social & Lifestyle Education, and Vietnam with Kids.

Subjects taught in English: English as an Additional Language, Visual Art, Music, Physical Education, Environmental Awareness and Sports and Movement.

Due to the constant integration with the International Programme, our bilingual students have the opportunity to speak English with their peers in a social setting as well as using subject specific language.
