Role Description

Role Purpose:
The role provides classroom support of instruction and education principles through the Cambridge Education curriculum and ensures the development of student learning, through effective lesson preparation, presentation and management of classroom activities and related assessments in conjunction with the classroom teacher.
Key Accountabilities:
- Work with colleagues to support and develop lessons and schemes for learning to a high standard;
- Work with colleagues to build an understanding of the class schedule, students and characteristics;
- Assist teachers with lesson preparation by preparing materials and teaching aids;
- Correct and review student work as needed (i.e. foreign languages, aptitude, etc.);
- Support students according to their individual needs, differentiating for varying abilities;
- Build a strong and lasting relationship with students in your classes and across the school to enhance high levels of learning;
- Collaborate with colleagues to recognise problems students face, offer suggestions and help implement solutions;
- Share teaching practice with colleagues and engage in a professional learning community, with a focus on improved quality of learning across the school;
- Maintain high expectations, working on the basis that all students will achieve beyond their current expectations;
- Record student progress for use when communicating with parents;
- Act as a liaison between students/parents and teachers, particularly Vietnamese parents;
- Ensure and encourage student participation in classroom cleanliness;
- Attend faculty and other school meetings as a necessity by the school;
- Support and supervise children during school and after school hours in extra-curricular activities;
- Support and supervise children during school and after school hours through educational additional support programs as required;
- Actively participate in personal and professional development;
- Take responsibility for tasks assigned by the Principal, Vice Principal or Learning Leads;
- Live the values of the Hoi An International School.
Pastoral / Student Well-Being:
- Interact with parents on academic and pastoral matters, including following upon student reports, parent-teacher meetings and support school calendar events;
- Support the school’s pastoral and support systems designed for greater student well-being;
- Support sector-specific and school-wide pastoral programmes and initiatives;
- Act as a point of contact and provide pastoral care to those in your care and the school;
- Support the delivery of teaching techniques to effectively meet the personal, social and academic needs of students;
- Ensure an inclusive environment for students in both the classroom and the greater school;
- Foster positive relationships and attitudes towards all students and staff across the school;
- Be mindful of your pastoral care practices and how your approach impacts students, the school, peers and the greater community.
Essential Criteria:
- At minimum a university degree relevant to the role studied in English;
- Proficient English language skills, including listening, speaking, reading and writing;
- Experience in supporting students who are second language learners (i.e. Vietnamese, French and Korean students);
- Pedagogical skills with an understanding of classroom activities and teaching methods;
- Presentation and explanation ability;
- Strong work organisation and time management skills;
- Capacity to instil a high level of trust in students, parents and fellow teachers;
- A willingness to be actively involved in the school’s extra-curricular activities.
Desirable:
- Experience working in an international school environment;
- Knowledge of Mathematics and Science curriculum at an Upper Primary level;
- Experience working with students of the relevant age level;
- Knowledge of teaching Vietnamese as a native or second language;
- Knowledge of EAL teaching.

Department: Administration Team
Reporting to: Admissions Director & Head of Administration
Key relationships: Administration Team, Leadership Team, Teaching Staff, School Support Staff, Parents/carers Students.
Location: Hoi An International School, Hoi An, Quang Nam, Vietnam
Role purpose:
The Admissions Consultant is responsible for providing administration, admissions and systems support to the Admissions Director in the delivery of the admissions functions across the greater Hoi An International School.
Key Accountabilities:
- Arrange the preparation and printing of material as required, specifically as it pertains to Admissions needs;
- Throughout the school year work as part of the Administration Team in the preparation of HAIS events;
- To assist with the inquiries into the School via multiple channels: telephone, email, website, social media, etc.;
- To actively support the recruitment of and increase the enrolment and retention of students at HAIS;
- To actively work with other departments to facilitate recruitment of students (i.e. Marketing department to develop campaigns, Facilities and Administration Officers to support Admissions Events and Finance to support payment of fees);
- To execute efficient and streamlined processes for all stages of recruitment, such as inquiry, school tour, application and assessment, with a strong focus on the conversion of inquiries to Enrolment;
- To ensure all inquiries and enrolments are accurately maintained on the database/school system with relevant documents attached and filed appropriately;
- To update the database with student amendments in liaison with the Admissions Director, Administration Officers, Finance Team and other relevant departments;
- Frequently follow up with prospective parents in the database and report to Admissions Director;
- To assist with the preparation of student induction as needed
- Maintain parent/student records and associated correspondence via the Admissions Email, Social Media and Database;
- Answer the Admissions hotline, canvass inquiries and direct calls to the appropriate staff;
- Greet visitors and guests to HAIS school in a professional manner;
- Assist in the translation of documents and emails from English to Vietnamese and vice versa as related to the Admissions Department; and
- Other duties as required.
