HAIS

HAIS seeks to foster a positive environment where each student is a valued and supported member of our community and where the ‘whole child’ can flourish.

As such, our students really are at the heart of who we are. HAIS currently has students representing nearly thirty different nationalities. This diversity shapes a dynamic, global-learning environment where our students learn both about and from one another.

We have created an environment where students learn to respect diversity, become open-minded and engage in global issues. We encourage our students to be inquirers who are balanced and reflective in their learning.

Environment

Small class size

Hoi An International School prides itself on providing an environment that encourages social and emotional growth and prepares students to take their place as positive participants in a changing world. Our small class sizes enable teachers to ensure that academic care and personal growth are maintained for each individual student. Positive relationships, underpinned by care and respect, support both academic and social/emotional wellbeing.

Balancing emotional and academic growth

Our approach at HAIS is to balance both academic learning and personal growth, and to recognise that these elements are not mutually exclusive but rather support one another in symbiosis. Pastoral Care is included in the HAIS curriculum every Thursday morning to nurture the teacher-pupil relationship and provide a dedicated time to check-in and offer social and emotional support to students. One key ingredient to our Pastoral Care programme is our daily ‘homeroom’ period. At HAIS, homeroom conversations are not just a registration process, but a time for conversations and support.

Diverse

After school activities

HAIS offers diverse activities that give students the opportunity to vary and expand their skill levels, lead groups and enhance their enjoyment and their friendships. At the beginning of each term, students can enrol in the ECA programme. ECAs run from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM Monday through Thursday with prompt pick up afterwards.

Learning enhancement team

At HAIS, we have a dedicated Learning Enhancement team to further support students’ social and emotional needs. The LE team advocates for student well-being and works to ensure that students are fully supported at school. They work closely with teachers to assist students in developing the skills needed to navigate any obstacles or difficulties  they may face.

Excursions & Camps

At HAIS, we believe that learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom. That’s why we offer amazing field trips, supervised by our dedicated staff. These excursions are carefully curated to align with our curriculum, giving students the opportunity to explore new places and discover new ideas.

Our Week Without Walls excursions for Secondary students take place after the exam period to places like Hue, Phong Nha and Cambodia. The Week Without Walls (WWW) embodies our commitment to immersive education, offering students a distinctive opportunity to break free from classroom constraints and engage in learning through service, action, and exploration.
